LR4 LS Swap General Information

Welcome to our LR4 LS Swap Description page. We wanted to dedicate a page to break down the ins and outs of our LR4 LS Swap Kit that is nearing release. Its been a long road from concept to reality but we are excited to be close offering these after 3 years of ups and downs. These kits will only fit 2014-2016 LR4s originally fitted with the 3.0l S/C Engine and ZF 8 speed transmission. The kit is designed around and has been tested with a Gen 4 LS Engine running a e38 ECM other configurations have not been tested. Most of the parts we will be offering would work on a 2010-2013 LR4/L320 if retrofitted with the 8hp, but our initial electronics package wont work with these as they use the Denso ecu vs the Later Bosch Ecus. We plan to develop something for those once these kits are prefect. Due to the overwhelming interest in these kits and the general need for some alternative for these rapidly failing 3.0l’s we have decided to finalize and release our full mechanical offerings and our version 1 electronics module. Our version 1 electronics package will get one running but will have no terrain response, rear locker has not been tested but we assume it would be non functioning due to the terrain response. We are actively working on an update for full functionality. Due to the nature of LS Swaps and individuality, we will be offering the kit in separate smaller kits so you can purchase just what you need for your build. Please see the below info about the separate kits. All the below parts are based on the use of an off-the-shelf transmission adapter from PMC Motorsport and Turbolamik Transmission controller.

Engine Mounting Kit

This kit will include Bolt in Engine Mounts that fit to original LR4 Chassis Side Mounts, Alternator Mount Adapter, A/C Compressor Adapter, and Air Box MAF Delete Insert. This kit will also include a full parts list of the off-the-shelf parts used to complete the mechanicals and plumbing of the swap as well as a guide for installation. Note that our Alternator and AC adapter is based around using standard GM Truck Belt Drive. We have not tested with Corvette or Camaro belt drive spacing.

Cooling Kit

This kit will include the Fan Shroud. We have designed an Aluminum Fan shroud that will fit the Original radiator. This shroud will allow fitment of 2 Derale High Output Fans. 1 14in and 1 12in. In our testing Cooling has not been an issue with this setup with fans barley running while moving, although it is a little tight.

Electronics Kit

This kit will include our Version 1 In-House Electronics module, PCM Flash, and IPC Flash (to remove Stop/Start Errors). Will also include full instructions of how to wire and fit our module. We are able to simplify the installation of the LS by keeping the Bosch ECU to run the LR4’s PWM Pump at the perfect pressure for the LS. This allows the LS to be plumed with fuel by one line with no regulators. Also with the ecu being retained its less wiring to achieve a working truck, we are even able to use the existing Rover throttle pedal. You will have to mail in your PCM for us to bench flash it. Kit price will include return shipping for Continental USA. IPC needs to be flashed to eliminate the the Stop/Start errors from the system being removed and bypassed, this can be done remotely with a mongoose cable. Our Version 1 Electronics module will get the vehicle working on the Start button, dash functionality, functioning air suspension, and transfer case functionality. Our Module is designed work with the TurboLamik transmission controller as it does use an analog 0-5v Input for gear position, may work with other controllers as long as a gear dependent 0-5v output line exists. Known not working with Version 1 is Terrain Response and Restricted Performance displayed on start up. NOTE: This will only work with 2014-2016 LR4s originally fitted with the 3.0l S/C Engine and ZF 8 speed transmission this will not work with an LR4 Originally fitted with a 5.0L NA V8 and 6hp Transmission. All other models L322, L494, L405, L320, are all untested and not currently supported.

Turbolamik Accessory Kit

This kit will include our BMW F Series shifter adapter to fit where the Dial Shifter was, Turbolamik Controls Panel that Fits in the Coin Tray (Fits Screen, Control Knob and Hole for a MIL Light for the LS), and a clean mount for the TurboLamik Ecu in the Battery Box.

Other Information

We want installation to be easy. We found the turbolamik tuning to have a big learning curve so we will have our base tune available for download here. We are also working on a Custom LSX Gauge set for the L322 Digital Clusters if you choose to retrofit. LSX Badges will also be available to replace the V6SC stock badges.

We have been in contact with Turbolamik about getting the Land Rover Dial Shifter working with their TCM. We have supplied the necessary Can Bus Data so that might be an option in the near future.
